I have 38 years of educational experience as a teacher, staff developer, site administrator, district administrator, assistant superintendent, university instructor, and consultant. I have a Master's degree in Special Education and a Doctorate in Educational Administration. My Master's project focused on education of the gifted while my dissertation addressed the role of professional organizations in staff development.
In my various roles I have conducted small and large group workshops, developed curriculum, led strategic planning initiatives, conducted curriculum audits, written grants, developed budgets to support goal attainment, and coached teachers and leaders. I am a member of several professional educational organizations across the country and currently serve as the Deputy Executive Director of California ASCD, the state affiliate of the International ASCD. In addition, I am a member of the International Literacy Association and Phi Delta Kappa. I am the Board chair of the Cultural Arts Rotary Foundation and the chair of the international committee of the Cultural Arts Rotary Club of Fresno.
When I'm not working with clients I enjoy time with family and friends. My favorite activity is traveling and exploring new places. I love the beach and water activities. I also love to read, scrapbook, and take photos.
I offer leadership development and coaching for site and district leaders. The needs of the individual leader dictate the exact processes and outcomes. Areas of focus may include creating aligned systems, focusing on standards-based instructional practices, implementing multi-tiered systems of support for students, and developing basic leadership skills including communication and community outreach.
In collaboration with site and/or district staff I will conduct a comprehensive assessment of current practices relative to areas of identified need. This will include review of documents, interviews, and observations. The result will be identified goals, actions to support the goals, designated budget, timeframe, and people responsible.
I offer a complete service that includes evaluating the current curriculum materials, equipment, and progress monitoring systems. This includes the analysis of the alignment of current practices and outcomes to essential standards and demonstration of student mastery through authentic performance evidence.
